Nature Based Solutions (NBS)

Nature-Based Solutions, as defined by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), encompass actions that safeguard, sustainably manage, and restore natural or modified ecosystems. These solutions effectively address societal challenges while concurrently promoting human well-being and biodiversity benefits¹.

Recognizing the significance of NBS, the IUCN acknowledges its pivotal role in tackling pressing issues like climate change, biodiversity loss, and food security. Additionally, esteemed organizations such as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change emphasize the potential of NBS in limiting global warming to 1.5°C.

At Klimate Smart, we are dedicated to investing in NBS projects that collaborate with diverse ecosystems, including forests, rain-forests, re-Wilding and agricultural sustainability. These NBS projects serve the dual purpose of absorbing CO2 and preventing the release of greenhouse gases, all while fostering positive outcomes for local communities and the region's biodiversity.

Carbon credits stand as one of the mechanisms through which we support these NBS projects. Each tonne of CO2 stored or averted by a project generates one credit, which can be sold to sustain and advance the project's mission of protecting, sustainably managing, or restoring nature.
